Hi there,
I have a 2001 Volvo S80 T6 Premiere, and absolutely love the car.
I got it with 106,499 miles on it about two months ago (little less), and now she sits at 111,610 miles. It's been a good 5100 miles .
That said, there's some little issues with the car that bother me. Like the glove box squeaking, but that I can live with.
I've noticed a lack of power at times, and from idle to about 4k... Then its a kick in the pants (sometimes). It also kicks a bit when I first get on the gas, and someone said that might be the trans going from neutral to drive (seems like a bad idea?). Someone suggested there might be a ridge near the BOV that should be hammered down. Is this something to look into? It's still much faster than my Impala, but I don't feel near the 276 hp I should, though it could just be a smoother ride.
The only other thing, and the main point of this post, is that I want to Seafoam the car. I tried some of the vacuum ports on the intake manifold but didn't draw enough vacuum to suck up the Seafoam. I can't use a brake line, because apparently that's an electric vacuum on the S80. I thought about the PCV valve, but didn't know where to try it? Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Josh
edit: Found a good vacuum source (on the side of the intake manifold) so the SeaFoam part is done. Now I just need to find out what that lag issue is; who knows - maybe seafoam fixed it?

Re: Seafoam question/lagging throttle (siegelj)

I think the 2001 model is part of the ETM recall. Definitely sounds like an electronic throttle going out. Call your dealer and see what they say about it.

Re: Seafoam question/lagging throttle (Majisto)

Thanks Majisto,
I went to the stealership about 4k ago and they did a recall software update. You think it might be hardware, then? I've read about this issue, but I'm not certain of it.
As a side question, I know that the cars computer stores max speed along with some other data in it... Can the dealership possibly use this to say the car was driven agressively or raced and void the warranty?

Doesn't matter because the ETM is a recall. They must fix it as it is safety related. Racing the engine has nothing to do with the ETM's failure. It's just a bad design.
