Hehee..not sure if you usually reply your email that quickly, so I thought I'd use this chance to abuse the board and force ya to answer few questions.
It seems like you guys are finally coming out w/ the short shifter for the T5s, but only for 2001 V70??!! Is it because they are easier to make? Or is there any other reason(s) why you don't have that for all the manual T5?
I'm not sure if you still remember, I was one of the first fews to bother you with this years ago.
Please let me know if you have any plan on making on for the older models. Thank you for the kind help as always.
Kai

Howdy Kai,
We were unable to determine via the microfiche if the new short shift kit would fit earlier models. The components look the same, but the part numbers are different on earlier models. We are in the process of scheduling local cars to test fitment on earlier models. As soon as we know more, we'll post an update here. I installed one in our 2001 T5 a few months ago and it works nice for quick shifts. I’ve noticed that on cold start up the reduced leverage can make it a bit tougher to snick it into gear when stopped.
I'm pretty sure it would fit in your Coupe as I don't think the center console has changed in the Coupe since it was introduced and the kit fits the 2001 Coupe.

Hehehe..once when I come back from the show today, I'll give you a call to place an order for it.
I'm just not too surprised that Volvo changed their part numbers again even if they are the same products. That's not unusual for them....just trying to make our lives much more complicated, that's all.
Worst comes to worst, if it doesn't work on my car, IPD always have good money back guarantee. I'm not worried about it.
About the cold start issue, I won't sweat it..since even with the smaller shift knob I have, the problem is there already during cold mornings.
Ahh...so the reason why you guys only advertised for the 2001 V70 was b/c it worked on your car, and haven't tried on others.
Well, again guys, this does show how IPD cares about what they sell instead of just throw everything on the wall and see what will stick.
Hehehe..I'll probably answer your comments about the TB and intake later. You got some good points again.

The spaceball thingy on the S60 T5 might be a bit tricky, though. When I test drove the S60, the whole shifting mechanism was much different and smoother than my 5 speed.
And if IPD's kit is to replace the whole shaft, that Spaceball design will def not work out w/ their kit. Maybe I'll let Scott explain on this one since I don't even know what they are really offering.

Yeah, I was just wondering if it was a different looking shaft area, but underneath the same. I haven't driven a regular manual yet out of the new cars, just a spaceball.

The space ball is the same as the other models underneath. We are going to attempt to install the short shift kit in a space ball car to see how it looks. The short shift lever isn't "finished" since it's normally covered by the shift boot, but if it functions correctly, we'll look at some finish options.
By the way, I modified a MOMO knob to work with the short shift kit in my 2001 V70. Part of the mod requires that you cut the last 3/4" off of the original shift knob and epoxy it to the base of the MOMO knob. This allows the stock shift boot to be attached to the base of the MOMO knob. We also had to machine the base of the MOMO knob. All you'd have to do is hack saw the last 3/4" of your stock knob (it's easy as it is plastic)and glue it to the MOMO base. The part that is glued on doesn't take any load, it just positions the boot relative to the knob. We could provide the knobs pre machined for around $80 to $100.
Any interest?
