Well, I finally completed the install of the SC-901 stereo in my 850 this weekend! It took quite a bit of work and at the end, it was all worth it. One thing I have noticed and wish I did from the start was to upgrade the SC-900 to the SC-901 earlier! The difference between the 2 units is seemingly transparent to the average user. However the advanced functions like the full custom EQ with adjustable crossovers for both front and rear speakers is worth the few extra bones being dropped to fund it. Also the 3-disk changer is 3+ times faster and much stronger than the one on the SC-900. Kudos to Volvo and Alpine for making a killer "factory" head unit. One hint of advice to anyone using the SC-816 and an external amp...Spend $200 bucks and trade up the SC-816 for the SC-901 and hear the difference. It's worth the money and time invested. Oh, and to think most people would never think of stealing a factory stereo either, so it's a safe install. Very discrete. Anyhow...just wanted to share my bliss.
Thanks again to all that have supported me with this effort. The results are simply stunning.
Prospero

That's not what you were saying before you bought it.
Man...I seriously miss my system. Actually I miss it more than my car~ LoL... BTW, you gotta listen to Mark's system when he comes down. It's pretty decent, too....but I still miss the ads speakers, though.
Would you happen to know how much it costs to trade up from the 900 to the 901?

It was $189.00 + tax and core. (dealer account price, retail account will be more.)
My local dealer played dumb regarding the trade-up so I went to another dealer in the area. They knew what to do without hesitation. I will look for the part number when I have a chance.
Prospero

Prospero,
Do you know if it is possible to trade up from the SC-815 to the SC-816? I have the SC-815 and a CD changer in the trunk, but it would be nice to have a cd slot in the car, which the SC-816 has. Thanks!
-Drew

And how did you go about installing a center speaker in your car?
