Do I need the $30-something Melbus cable to connect the two in order to get full function out of both or are they both run seperately to the HU?

When they installed my ipod adapter they used my satellite cable. So when I went ot install my Sirius kit I had to disconnect the iPod to use my prep wire forhte Satellite. So again, do i need the Melbus cable that is required for ipod install with 10 disc changer or nav?

You need the one that goes from the IPOD box to the Sirius box.

The one I used for IPOD and Sat, no NAV, no 10 Disc on a 06 S60R was:
