Decided it was time to trade her in. It was a very sad day and after 21 months of ownership and 20,000+ miles later it was extremely depressing to see her go. I wanted to say thanks to all the help from this forum. Even though I got rid of her about 4 weeks ago now I still seem to be here everyday reading up on what all is happening and who is doing what. I must say it was a very enjoyable car when she was in a good mood and the most stress I have ever had when she was in a bad one.
Figured I would post up some pictures of the old girl and then some of the new child. Decided to go with a BMW 335i. Seemed like a complete package and had the same amount of power if not more than the R. Found a great deal on one that was a dealer loaner car with very little miles and a much lower price tag than new and got them to CPO it. Sad to lose the wagon but with recently graduating from college it was not a necessity anymore.
I also have V70 bars and bike carriers for sale in the classifieds if anyone is interested. That's a VERY clean looking 04. Good job keeping 'er in great shape. Beautiful town, by the way. Congrats on the 335. While I am more of a wagon guy, the interior looks sweet, and I'm sure it'll be a fun ride. Stop in from time to time, eh?

Love that interior! Friend of mine has a 335i too and got the Juicebox chip for it - 80hp/80tq for a few hundred dollars. Best upgrade by far.

I cant decide between the 335i or the 535i for the next car. problem is its going to be an '09 MY in '10 when i buy it. i like the pep of the 335i but i already feel small in my s60. then again, fast, sturdy, twin turbo! 4.8 0-60.............anyways, the 535 is great and just as fast, like 5.4 or something 0-60, and is a better size, BUT '09 is the end of that Generation. 2010 there is a new model! I DONT WANT THE OLD ONE LOL!

Too bad that 335 is steptronic! Actually, the steptronic is faster (quicker) than the manual, due to the gearing. And like everyone else has said more power is very easy to get from the N54 engine. Check out http://www.e90post.com and http://www.n54tech.com both are good resources for the bmw.

Good thing you got the 3-series now - the new model due out in 2010 is going to have a 3-Cylander electric-charged turbo instead of the 6-cylander twin turbo.
Its a damn shame that the auto companies have to give up 'fun' for 'fuel economy and efficiency'

Re: (heus33)

Thanks guys!
The car is absolutely scary fast and a blast to drive! Not looking to mod anytime soon but when I do a JuiceBox is the first thing I will get. It is like you all said, around $400 bucks will get you 80HP/80LBFT to the wheels they say!! The aftermarket for these cars is much larger than I thought it would be!! I guess that is what happens when you are use to looking for stuff for the R!
I loved the interior from the 1st one I test drove and was determined to find it in another one.
The steptronic transmission seems to be pretty bullet proof!! It is extremely fast! Makes me want to drive one of their SMG transmissions. I could not find any bad reviews on the tranny so I decided that paddle shifters made up for not having a stick still. It is much faster than the GT tranny in the R!
As for the turbo change in the 2010 model I am not really sure why they would do that? I just did a road trip up to Boston doing about an average of 80MPH and got an average of 30.1MPG!! Blown away by this number since the R averaged about 23 at those speeds!!
If anyone is interested I figured I would post the link to the car to where I traded it in at so here it is: http://www.valleybmw.com/VehicleDetails/455035213
Cheers!

They are doing the turbo change to appeal to the 'greenies' in the US. Anything with the "electric" tag sells these days.
Hell - Lamborghini is releasing a Gallardo RWD or AWD Hybrid... they should make it available in that horrid lime-green only

Re: Said Goodbye to the R :( - Pics!! (epicV70R)

is that an R? boring ...
exhausts are retarded positioned on the 335 .... but BMW is known as giving crap on styling. This just look cheap as usual.
btw .... hp means nothing ... show me the torque of bi-turbo .... pfff... good r will own. 335 is a crap bi-turbo like T6
lpt v. hpt ... new school for bmw ... they have a long way to go.
lambo is known to make cars for the "casual" ones ... read as no-drivers-car

From spending a week in a 8k mile 2009 BMW 335Xi Sedan on the AKArally.
Its pretty damn fun! Equipped with the 6spd manual, lowered on 19" wheels, the ride was fantastic and the power was beautiful. Modded with an ECU tune and intake, the car was pretty fast.

dyno graph for 335i

it has over 280ft/lbs wheel torque at a little more than 2000rpm.
It has over 270whp which is about 340hp at crank with 20% drivetrain loss.
Even a good R will have a hard time trying to beat one.

Is this stock and then chipped? Chipped with what and did it get an intake improvement?

Quote, originally posted by j-velocity »

dyno graph for 335i

it has over 280ft/lbs wheel torque at a little more than 2000rpm.
It has over 270whp which is about 340hp at crank with 20% drivetrain loss.
Even a good R will have a hard time trying to beat one.
