I'm going to install a boost controller for my stock 1.9T. What's the max boost I can safely use without affecting the engine's life?

I boost at about 12psi on the road and at tracks I go up to around 17psi... One of the guys at Volvo said that you can safely boost up to 22psi (not really recommended though) without blowing your engine... but that is of course with some kind of fuel/air ratio adjustment, such as a piggyback fuel computer.

On the US-spec S40? I don't know about that. Sure, you can attempt to do that on a T4 model but that car has totally different "plumbing" too.
Yannis
