Hello,

I have a 2007 s80 and was looking to change out the radio. I wanted to know if anyone has done this before and what type of radio they put in. It seems to be between a 1 and 2 din so I'm not sure what type I can put in. I was really hoping to be able to put in one with a touch screen, Bluetooth etc.

Please let me know if anyone has done this and what type of radio they have put in.

Thanks

Unless I'm mistaken, I think your options are extremely limited because the existing display is also part of the climate control system and is needed for the menu settings etc...

Only viable replacement I've come across for my similar age C70 is the Bluepower unit. A quick glance at their website, www.bluepower.se shows they apparently have a unit for the 07 S80 coming out "summer 17"... though reading here and other forums they have a less than stellar history when it comes to delivery dates, and the unit, while promising, does seem to have some shortcomings

Thanks do you know if they have an option to view their website in English lol.

Also I went to my local Volvo dealership and they gave me a name of a place that is local to me that is able to replace the radios on Volvos and do all the rewiring so I am still able to control temps and stuff. I more wanted to see if anyone else has ever done this as I know it is a difficult car to do it on. I wanted to know how it works out and maybe what my best option is for the best fit/look/use in my car.

If you look at the top right of the webpage, click the down arrow next to where it says "svenska" a menu will appear with English on it... you can also change the currency, and prices with or without VAT (european sales tax) which you would not have to pay on orders shipped to the US...

I don't have anything more specific, as I said, I'm a C70 owner, and still considering options for upgrading my own... I'm not that far from New York so if the place you are talking about works out well do let me know.

When I ended up going to the place the prices they were quoting me were very high. I decided it wasn't worth it to do it through them. I am still looking for ideas as I still really would like to replace the head unit in my car so I can replace it with one that at least has Bluetooth. Please anyone still looking for ideas, pictures or instructions with what you may have done to replace it in your car.

Hello,

I have posted this before but never got an answer on that post. I have a 2007 S80 and would really like to replace the head unit in it with something that at least has bluetooth capabilities. I have seen that it is possible to take off the radio display. Does anyone know if it is possible to replace the head unit right from that. Also if anyone has done it what have they put in. I would like something with a touch screen so I was wondering if anyone has a one din with a fold out screen and how it works.

Thanks in advance for any help.

As for bluetooth I installed iPod/USB from Volvo and then bought a tune2air. Now I have bluetooth streaming from my iPhone with full compatibility. Can browse my library, play/pause, rewind, fast-forward etc from the stereo and steering wheel buttons. Pricey but worth it imo, probably cheap compared to installing a touch-screen one.

i bought a $30 himbox. stuck it to the console by the map lights, ran it under the headliner, under the a Pillar, under the dash above the steering column, around the console to the passenger side, and plugged it into the lighter under the armrest, and plugged the other wire into the aux input in the console. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GJFGE0K/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

If i want to talk on the phone or the kid wants to play her music I push the button on the radio for aux. i did have to buy two extension cords, and the best price was staples on line which the store matched. Total cost about $50. if you want to go overboard, do like i did, and run a piece of black electrical tape over the wires in the groove of the console on the passenger side.

I'm happy with the Bluepower I got for my R. Having an equalizer is definitely nice compared to the hu-850.

But I think the bluetooth module noticeably reduces audio quality. :-/

I don't know why there has to be two threads about the same thing from the same person but I'll comment anyway. I installed usb/ipod in my S80 as well as a bluetooth iPod adaptor so I can stream from my iPhone. I noticed a bump in audio quality using the iPod/bluetooth setup compared to using AUX as I had before. Definitely squeezes every last bit out of my 320 kbps MP3s :p

Appreciate the merging of the threads. Not a regular on this site but saw the other thread died and still never got an answer that I would have been fully satisfied with. Really want to get this replaced as it will make everything easier within my car with the music, Bluetooth/hands free calls as I will be making a lot of very long road trips in the near future. To anyone who may have ordered from the bluepower, how easy was it to install yourself. The price would be almost $600 in U.S. and for that price I wouldnt want to spend anymore really to get it installed and am hoping I could do it myself. Also how well does it work. Thanks everyone for the feedback so far.

There are threads on the himbox and another brand. read those, install it for $50. You cant tell its there because it looks better than the factory Bluetooth - dealer installed option on our 2008 XC90 V8.

Hi,

Have come across this 6" LCD Touch Screen retrofit offered by www.bluepower.se for about 5990SEK ($687.57), has an impressive list of features which brings about a much needed modernity to the inside of S80. Has anyone on the forum used it yet ? Are there any further example pictures/videos ?

Hey Body Massage,

I just ordered a unit (BLP-950) for my 2008 S80 from Bluepower. Delivery time says around 8-12 weeks! How long did you have to wait for your unit to arrive?

Best regards,

Mike

very interested to hear reviews of this thing (bluepower blp-950), both of the installation process and of functionality.

Also, I see it has it's own 60W amplifier? I'd hate to give up the 150W Dynaudio amplifier in my 'High Performance' factory system....
