Hey, finally i found some people to talk to who really know about volvos...
I have a question... Are the brakes on the T6 more powerful than those on the 2.9 and if they are not, what can i do to improve the brakes. It really feels like the brakes aren't responsive. they feel powerful but not quick if you can understand what i mean. I have to push long and hard on the brake before i get strong braking. Are there any standard and 'non warranty ruining' things i can do to improve the brakes? The pads where just changed when i bought the car a week ago so i don't think that's a problem. I appreciate your help...

Re: S80 Brakes? (sigaleg)

I own an S80-T6, and had a similar problem. My pads, and rotars were fine, but there was a slight leak in the vaccuum of the booster cylinder. You should check that out. It could be you are pressing the brakes, but the booster, is not responding as quick, due to leak in the vaccuum . Usually, if there is a leak, you will hear a 'hissing' kind of sound.
My brakes are quite responsive, so if you tell me your pads are good, then I would suggest there is something wrong in the braking system.

Re: S80 Brakes? (Toronto_S80T6)

I've heard of people switching over to ATE Blue or Gold brake fluid. I'm told that helps brake performance noticeably, though I'll be honest, I haven't tried it yet.
It'll help lower the resistance to fade and probably help pedal feel.
I believe the same brake setup is used on all P2 cars (S80, V70 and S60). The only factory upgrade would be the new R brakes.

Thanks for both of your help. I think I'll just get my brakes checked out when the car needs to be inspected and watch out for any weird noises and responses. Unless anything new pops up I'll just pray... Thanks again
Re: S80 Brakes? (GrecianVolvo)

no no, of course not. My brakes work well, that's not the issue, i just want to improve them. I mean, they were checked a few weeks ago when the dealer certified the car and they replaced the brake pads then. I talked to the dealer about my concern and he said the brakes were as good as new. But i just wanted to know if i could improve them even more, after market. I do use my brakes quite often... i just can't resist gunning it with the T6. But of course I would not drive the car if I wasn't confident that the brakes were going to work. Thanks for your concern Yannis... I appreciate it
