Re: S80 as a Clunker (zamo)

Makes me sad to see a perfectly running engine destroyed, just for giggles I tried a week ago on the CARS website to see, mine didn't qualify, and its 1999, how they traded theirs in in this video baffles me. There isn't a way to know for sure if it had something else wrong, like the tranny. But the engine sounded healthy when he started it. Such a waste of parts. But it shows how strong they are!

It qualifies as per the site http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg...dacar
But I still don't see why someone will turn in a perfectly fine car

That is truly insane how long that engine held. If you watch one of the related videos of the 4.0L Jeep it seizes in a matter of seconds.
That car looked like its in good condition too.

I agree, that is absolutely tragic. Extremely unintelligent on the part of the person turning the car in.

It is astonishing that it made it 4 minutes. After spending my life - from age 14 on - trying to keep cars alive the sadistic side of me wants to go apply for that job.
That said - it almost made me puke. What a waste of resources.

I saw one take off from the traffic lights a few days ago and I just stared in awe... according to the plate on it, that unit was 6 years old.
