Hello, I am wondering if any members have had the opportunity and pleasure to take their S60R out at a driving event/roadcourse. If so, I am curious as to how competent the S60R is. I'm considering purchasing one and I like to get out on a few HPDE's each season. Nothing crazy (low priority) but I'd just like to know what I would be up against.

Thanks.

The R's are a blast at the track. Here is a photo of my 2004 V70R with my son right behind me in his S60R. This was at Infenion (Sears Point). We went for two days and it was more fun than I had had in a long time. The R's did great and surprised some people. oclv

Re: (Rues R)

Having autocrossed and taken my R to the drag strip, I can say that I will never auto-x it again. It seems like it would be better off at a legit track at higher speeds than with the tight turning of auto-x. Even if my R had all of the suspension mods, it is still way too heavy. If you are not worried about breaking things, then the drag strip is awesome. The R is challenging to launch, but picks up speed in a hurry.

well, I can say the car handles a lot better with sways and strut bars. Having driven the Ring for about 40 laps, the changes in how the car handles is noticeable at fast corners. It really helps, and they are a cheap upgrade.
Handling better is not the same as being faster around

Most drivers don't like the 4C coz it has it's own mind ... but it's faster if you just trust it to let it do it's work ... I love it http://********************/smile/emlove.gif been at track with a factory-test-driver driving the R (not mine naturally) that does nothing more than push cars beyond it's limits for a job ... and I was stuned of where the cornering limits of the R is (far beyond M limits for sure).

took mine to an event at Streets of Willow. didnt really enjoy it because the track is more suited to Miata size cars, but it was still fun. i still want to go to Buttonwillow as that was a blast in other cars.

Re: (bdcardinal)

I've done some auto-x's... beat some stock WRX's and got a LOT of attention.

"Did I miss something? When did Volvos start coming with huge f---'n brakes?"

It did pretty well I thought, though I could see sways as being a huge improvement. My car is on eibach springs, and running in advanced I still got a decent amount of body roll.

My goal for the summer is to beat my coworkers when we hit up an auto-x together . http://********************/smile/emthup.gif
