when i had my T5, i walked away from a 323 on the "closed course" from 60-120mph

I serious doubt that putting.. lets say $100K worth of mod into a toyota echo will make it beat a ML F1..

Maybe that's because a McLaren F1 is a million dollars. With a million dollars, you could make a Volvo faster in a straight line (although it might not be considered a Volvo anymore since you'd have to replace the entire drivetrain and bodywork).

are you kidding??

stock T5 will smoke: 323, 325, 328 and almost an 330

ECU upgrade T5 is the same as: R.

T5 with dp, catback, ecu: smoke an R bad, M3 for 3 cars, 645i, mustang gt, S4, Srt4.

but his is a geartronic (auto) like mine. it will not be as fast as even a stock S60 T5 manual, with only a stage I tuning. (stage I meaning an ecu upgrade + air filter + exhaust )

i have a 2001 S60 T5 geartronic with superchip 15psi, no cat and JR panel filter.
i never tried a bmw323i.. and not sure if it would add to this conversation as a referance, but i smoked a 325i cabrio very badly this weekend. and the guy was a really aggressive driver too. from 50mph to 110mph i literally put buslengths on him.

i believe a stage II tuning ( bigger turbo + 3"dp + mapped ecu + etc.. ) would put the geartronic T5 around a realiable 280 wheel hp. only then, it would become a serious threat for an M3 in a straight line from a roll ... i'm not saying that it would destroy the M3 - however it would give the M3 a good challange from a roll. maybe even a close win might be possible.


but if there's a standing start..... man i should've bought the manual...
