Anyone know about these Ultra-Flo inakes for the S60? As you know, these "cold" air intkes are hard to come by for non-R S60's (short of making your own )... and I just wondered if anyone has had experience with this product. The site looks pretty legit, I just can't imagine how much warm/hot air that shield will actually keep out. Just looking for a bit more on the low-end, until I decide to "chip" or not. Any advice/alternatives would be appreciated.
http://www.eurosporttuning.ca/...60-en

Re: S60 T5 "cold?" air intake (darylkaiser30)

K&N have a bad reputation for causing problems if too much oil is used on the filter. Deadly to MAF.
Problem with systems like this is the engine compartment heat needs to be stopped from affecting the intake, and this one doesn't look like it will isolate the filter enough. Check the forums, there is someone who just built his own for less that $55, and it looks a lot like what you really want. Similar, but better isolated from the heat. There was a second post about using a tupperware paint bucket, and that looked like it might work as well or better.

a lot of people will says that intake sucks, i have it in my car and i really like it, also i saw some gain on the dyno. for that price just get it and enjoy the sound of the turbo spooling. Also the shield that comes with the kit is enough to keep the hot outside

Re: (volvos60t5x)

thanks all, I may just end up making my own... BRS's looks good too (if I can figure out how to order it ). Does the air/fuel mixture need to be adjusted at all after installing one of these?
By the way, volvos60t5x, got a picture of your intake setup?

Re: (afterimage)

My friend and I are working on a CAI that is sealed from the engine. I had a post about it, but I don't know how to get the pics to stick. How do I post pics??????? My first version has a plastic housing, but our final version will probably be aluminum with a couple of filter choices. So far, I have had the unit on for a couple of months and what I notice is a little more pick-up in the upper end, and an increase in mileage of approximately .75 to 1 mpg. The weather did warm up after I installed it, so I might have gotten better results if I didn't use my air conditioner. I am hoping that once I attach a better filter, I will have better results to post. I do like the sound. Sealing the intake from the engine heat is the key. Once I get my aluminum one finished, I will post temps and more pics. That is, if I ever figure out how to post pics here.
Keep checking the posts.
Swish

Re: (afterimage)

you dont need to adjust anything on the car. Here is the pic of my intake, also check the part that i used on the edge of the shield, it makes more sealed the intake area with the engine bay close.

As seen in the pic posted.

Re: (slowrey)

if you look the shield, it has the same hole than the box, so the air from outside pass direclty inside of the shield giving the car fresh air.
