That's awesome. The S60 may be a little big for the series though. Touring Car is a great series, and it's a shame how the sport kind of slowed there. DTM has been on the rise, but it'd be nice to see a main Touring Car program take hold in Europe.... and then the USA
From the looks of it the BTCC may just be in a phase of "rebirth" as this year see's many manufacturers to be in attendance. Only time will tell. I think one thing we need here if we want a successful touring car program is better tracks for touring cars.

Carlos
2001 Volvo S40 "Volvo for life"
What I'd love to see is a US arm to this series. Don Panoz would do well to integrate this into the ALMS weekend schedule.
Touring car is like where the roots of NASCAR were, but with today's technology. Platform sharing also works in this case.
For instance, if Opel runs the Vectra in Europe and Saturn the larger sedan here in the US, they could seriously cut down on developement costs.
What I would really like to see is minivan touring races. Can you imagine what it would be like to see a ford windstar or chevy venture on 19" magnesium??
Alas, it's just a dream...
Carlos
2001 Volvo S40 "Volvo for life"
I think someone did that once. Was it Peugot? I have a CAR magazine somewhere with a Peugot minivan set up to TOCA specs. They let it run one round of races, and then disqualified it.
That's the cool part to TOCA though, was that you could try something like that. Volvo had a chance to run the wagons after all.
Anyone hear any new news on this? I'm really curoious to know what's going on. Does Rydell have a website where I can check, or does anyone know any good motorsport sites that do something other than Nascar or F1 where I might find this?
I'm not really sure where you can go to get info. on this. I got this from redshoes-racing.com, Nigel is pretty cool about getting this info. There is also a Rydell supporters club online, here: http://www.fabas.se/rydell/
Overall we might see something on the official BTCC site as well or the European Touring Car site (although I can't seem to find that one)
The BTCC is at www.btcc.co.uk
This should be exciting for 2002!
Carlos
2001 Volvo S40 "Volvo for life"
Because the regulations for BTCC and EuroTCC are so alike it is possible the S60 will be running in the final races of the BTCC this year, this however is just a rumor. I believe the S60 is aimed at the European Touring Car Championship, which again, I still haven't seen or been able to find a site about, if you find one let me know!!

Carlos
2001 Volvo S40 "Volvo for life"
