If he's got this many pictures of an S60, just think how much *porn* he has Seriously, these pictures should be archived, as I'm sure lots of people would like to see them, but wouldn't guess they'd be on a forum. Seperate website? Volvo encyclopedia?

There are some great photos of the Cosmos Blue here.
Go to Swedespeed's homepage--click on features tab--You say you want a re-volvo-lution--then click on more.
The article here shows the Cosmos Blue in what I think is it's truest appearance.
Enjoy!

InDy, You Rule!!!
I've gone to every dealer in my area and not one has an S60 in cosmos blue. Those pictures are great! It is nice to see it in different lighting. I just wish I could see one in person. ugh...
Ken, you hit the nail on the head when you mentioned different lighting. I was initially interested in getting the cosmos blue, but decided against after seeing it. I personally didn't like the way it looks in bright light conditions (the purple tint didn't look good to me, and my wife thought it looked cheap). It does look very good in darker light IMO, and in some pictures it looks awesome. I recommend seeing the color first before ordering it (does Volvo offer cosmos on other models?). You may love it--a lot of people do.
I ended up with silver for my T5.

PK, Of those pictures above that InDy posted, which one do you think most resembles the color as you saw it in person?
I also noticed you are in LA. Did you see the cosmos blue S60 in LA, and if so where and how long ago?
[This message has been edited by Ken (edited 04-04-2001).]
I've got a Cosmos and I just took some photos of it. They're still in my camera but when I get them developed I'll post them. It's a nice color. I initially was going to get black but when I saw the Cosmos I was sold. By the way--an S60 doesn't look cheap in any color.
cnyberg,
Believe me, no offense intended. Obviously, this color attracts a lot of people with good taste!!

Ken,
It's hard to say which picture, since none of them really reflect what I was talking about (imagine cosmos picture #3 with brighter light, and a more pronounced light glittery purple hue) Like I said, see the color for yourself, you may absolutely love it! I saw it at Calabasas Motorcars (out of the way for many Angelenos). I think the highest volume dealer may be Cerritos Volvo, so that would be a good place to call. Where do you live? I live in Sherman Oaks, and am having my car delivered to Westside Volvo in Culver City (the 3rd closest to my house). Where do you live?
I understand where you're coming from. I had wanted for months to see what the "aluminum" mesh trim actually looks like.
I just got back last week from picking up my car in Sweden and finally saw it in person. IMO, it looks nice, but I don't understand why they didn't just make it from aluminum (or even a cheaper metal)!
By the way, I saw the S60 in dark gray while I was in Sweden and would like to have that color here--along with 1 or 2 other colors.

Ken,
Sorry, I didn't even look to see you are in Santa Cruz (home of the "Bananna Slugs"). I've travelled throughout that area, and think its pretty nice. I think that cosmos blue may actually look pretty damn good in all that fog and marine layer!
Ken,
If you have not already, I think that there is something very important you must consider. As much as I love the color black on the S60, IMHO it is so hard to keep looking very nice. Black looks *wonderful* sitting on the showroom floor when it is waxed, but after a day or two of driving it collects visible dust quickly. I think from that perspective, silver is the best color. It looks nice and is the easiest to keep clean. My second car is a Pearl White Infiniti Q45, and it looks great when it is just washed, but when it is dirty, it looks like terrible, seriously. My parents used to own a dark metallic green Volvo that would show every single little small scratch, not fun.
So the question is, how much time do you plan on putting into making the car making it look nice and maintaining it. How much time do you have to wash it and wax it, etc. Some colors take more care to look good than others for sure. I honestly think that this is something people sometimes forget when they shop for a car. Sure, all colors look great on the showroom floor, but my cars and everyone elses cars will not look like showroom floor cars everyday.
Of course, all of this might not matter to some, but it is something to consider anyway.
-Drew
PK, I just got back from a dealership that actually had a cosmos blue S60 on the lot. After seeing it in person I too decided against the cosmos blue. I have to agree with your wife's opinion, I also thought that the cosmos blue detracted from the elegance of the S60. In person, the cosmos blue looks nothing like it does in any of those pictures above (not nearly as flashy in person). In fact, had it looked like those pictures in person there would have been no doubt that I go with the blue. But it didn't, so we are going with the black.
I want to thank everyone for their opinions on this subject, including those of you who liked the cosmos blue. This was all nothing but personal opinions, so nobody was wrong here. No hard feeling to you cosmos blue fans.
- Ken
