The new S60 AWD will first be available without the "DSTC", which will be made available in "later production".

What exactly is the benefit of 'DSTC', especially in conjunction with an already sophisticated AWD system, and is it worth waiting for?

Also, do you know if they are still "on-target" for having the DSTC available in December (of this year??!!).

Thanks.

Michael,

From what I know about the AWD S60 and DTSC, I would not wait for DTSC. This is where most of the development problems have been and I would anticipate a software nightmare here. The Haldex system is well sorted out and I do not belive the DTSC will add much to the stability of an already stable platform. The DTSC system is a dynamic stability system that can selectively brake each wheel to help get you out of trouble if you overstep the laws of nature. DTSC can help correct oversteering and understeering conditions (loose and push for the NASCAR crowd). That is my take on the matter. Perhaps someone else has some additional thoughts.

Regards,

Jim
