So, I was reading about a few trunk issues, and I was curious if the trunk button on the remote is supposed to actually make the trunk lid open a little, instead of having to pressing the release underneath the lid?

On the S40 it only unlocks the trunk. On some other cars, like the S80, you can hold down the trunk button to have it pop it open slightly.

It just unlocks for me. Seems kind of pointless as to why you'd want to unlock your trunk and not your car though. The Unlock button does it all.

X-mas. You've been shopping but not yet got everything. Your hands are full so you go back to the car. Why open the rest of the car, if you only need to access the boot/trunk?

Or you've been asked to help someone with a break down on the highway. You exit your car, lock up behind you and unlock only the trunk, so no one can get in ;)

I've had quite a few times where I was going somewhere and forgot something in the trunk, so I simply went back and popped the trunk lock.
