My GF advised me of a few issues since her new (to us) 2006 S40T5AWD.
Sometimes, maybe 10% of the time, when turning the car on, the temperature display will read a much lower value than actual temperature. I think it eventually rebounds to the actual temp., but something is askew.
Just yesterday, for the first time ever, neither the passenger or rear passenger window would go up. I believe they are on independent circuits so I am a bit baffled. From what she said, it stayed like this for 4 different trips/ignition cycles, and then it started working again. She tried from the driver door control as well as the controls at each of the windows.
Obviously the fuses are OK if they resumed operation, but maybe someone knows of these pending issues already and has an answer. I haven't had any luck through searches. Next step is to trace the wiring and explore the VADIS diagrams.
Is the temp sensor in the passenger mirror on these cars?

AFAIK, the sensor is around there. I remember a thread talking about it and he ultimately had to clean the sensors, but I can't find it for the life of me. HALP!

I found a massive PDF of electrical info in our cars (Where things are, wire colors, etc.). It may help you find what you need.
30 meg pdf: http://pliki.mojevolvo.pl/volv...9.pdf
From http://mojevolvo.pl/wiki/Volvo_S40. The web site is in polish, but the PDF is english.

FYI, most cars have to drive to 30 mph to get an accurate temp reading. I've read this in previous car manuals Havent read the volvo one, but I wouldnt guess it wouldnt be different...

It reads WELL BELOW ambient, as in yesterday when it was 80-90, it initially read 42. I've seen it read 0 degrees when it was 50 out. It's definitely acting abnormally.

There is a known wiring harness issue. Get to you dealer and have them change the door wiring harness'. I had the same issue with my 06 V50. I work at a Volvo dealership so I am familiar with this issue.

All cars do that.
If you read what this one is doing, it is not normal operation.
When yours reads 113F, it is because the UV rays are heating the surface of the sensor or the surrounding area to a higher temperature. When you start moving and pushing ambient air across it, it will drop and read the true ambient temperature.

And the gremlins strike again!
I guess the gas gauge is reading a full tank when she knows there is no more than 1/2 tank in there. Turn the key off and back on and it will read a different value. Cool, huh!?
