Volvo has apparently finalized the MY07 specs and options, as usual publishing the OSD information well before the retail. The list prices are for OSD only, but generally the options are priced identically to retail.
There are some interesting features:
2007 Volvo S40 U.S. Specifications and Prices
Standard Features:
. Dynamic Stability Traction Control (DSTC) standard on all variants
. T5 FWD - Automatic transmission becomes standard
. New, more premium overhead console
. Puddle lights deleted from all variants
Packages/Options:
. Aux Input and MP3 Capability added to 2.4i Select Package and T5 Audio Package
. Sirius Satellite Radio available as stand alone option on all variants (requires Select Package on 2.4i and Audio Package on T5)
. Body Styling Package added to 2.4i (Body Kit and Trunk Spoiler)
. T5 Premium Package adds Auto Dim Mirror with Compass and Homelink
. T5 Convenience Package has been deleted
. Integrated Dual Booster Cushions and IAQS have been deleted as stand alone options
Colors:
. Titanium Grey added
. Flint Grey deleted
2007 Volvo V50 U.S. Specifications and Prices
Standard Features:
. The price gap between the FWD/AWD base prices seems to have narrowed significantly as a result.
Note that the OSD requires Select or Premium to be ordered, but that's not true in retail, and the option list seems to be complete even though these packages include amny of them.
New wheels option, 17" Zaurak chromed. Looking forward to seeing what those look like.
The Nav system says it has a "DVD map". Didn't we hear it was hard-drive based?
Yes, keyless drive is listed, for $450.
Tom.

I'll state the obvious question haha...wonder if the aux input and MP3 capability will be backward compatible.
From the Volvo Cars website:
Zaurak Silver Bright

Zaurak Chromed

There's a new 15" wheel as well.
Isis Silver Stone

Looks like Volvo swayed away from their wheel naming convention...

Took a quick look at the accessories.
It says that both the 1 and 6 CD players has MP3/WMA compatibility. And it still states that NAV is CD based.

Re: (Pez)

Hmm, that sounds like it plays MP3/WMA cd's, no actual word on aux input...
Tom.

Re: (Pez)

Thanks for the Zaurak link. Here's a pic on the car (in a really interesting Maple Red Pearl color!)

Not sure I'm nuts about those.
The Isis wheels at 15" are going to be of limited interest. They don't ship 15's at all to the US.
Tom.

I'm kind of jealous because of the options. But no manual of FWD?????!!!! What's up with that....that alone makes me not regret getting an 06!

I have just come back from my dealer after checking out the V50 D5.
Quick word about the Aux in - from what I gleaned at the dealer this does not give you control of the menu system on the iPod (or other DAP), merely volume control. It's a step in the right direction but not the right solution.
To get the best sound from the iPod you need to connect it via the bottom dock thereby using the line level output. From the way Volvo looks like it has approached the issue they are just going to let DAP owners use the earphone line-out.....
Now to the V50 D5 - took one for a test drive - to say it goes like poop off a shiny shovel is an understatement. Plenty of poke and it has a sound not unlike a V8 when you put your foot down and overtaking is a breeze!(maybe that sound was the dealer screaming....) I hadn't used a Geartronic box before this so was wanting to give that a try. I'm going to get the car for an extended 24 hr test at some point - may even get them to stretch to a weekend...
They've tweaked the 07 here and there - obvious cosmetic changes I noted are new indicators in the door mirrors, small 'blades' on the rear window glass either side of the high level brake light, they've moved the DTSC switch from the centre console and is now accessed via the computer "wheel switch" on the column stalk (at least that's where I think the dealer said it was) and the Aux in socket for DAPs etc.
Now, just ned to scrape the money together......

Does anyone know which of these modifications can be applied to '05 and '06 cars? For instance, can the '05 center console (with the radio) be replaced with the newer AUX-enabled '07 (or simply the headunit)?
What about the Sirius Satellite Radio?
jetcat33

Re: (jetcat33)

We'll be receiving our car earlier than expected (July/August) so I'll let you guys know as soon as we get it. I'll take lots of pictures to share. Our dealer confirmed the Navigation system is hard-drive based and no longer available on DVD format.

The small 'blades' on the V50 rear window glass are subtle, wonder what the function is.

Re: S40 and V50 MY2007 specifications and options (tmtalpey)

the premium package should have came with the auto dim mirror and homelink for '05 and '06, glad they're adding it for '07. I wonder what the new "more premium" over head console looks like...

Re: (BobV50)

The two spoilers beside the third brake light are placed there to neutralize (at least a part) of the turbulence caused by the roof rails.
My new 06 V50 already has them.
The 07 model also features a new auto-dimming rearview mirror; the 2 sensors (below the mirror) are now integrated into the mirror, the mirror is a tad larger and is placed a few centimeters towards the roof so it's less inside your normal viewing-space

Re: (daver)

Ahh, that thought did cross my mind as I posted the above, "wonder if a V50 sans roof rails has them.....".
Re the interior light setup - from what I can recall looking at the car in the showroom the interior light lens now forms a U shape surrounding the switches (`open end´ to the front). Hope that what I saw is right.

Re: (daver)

Yes, the two little eyebrows are spoilers to help keep the glass clear. I don't care for them, personally.
The auto-dimming rearview also has an integrated compass. It's been available as part of the US convenience package since the beginning, but they integrated those features and dropped the package here for 07. There is a sensor on the back as well as the two little ones below the glass. The back one senses whether it's dark out, and the front ones command the dimming.
Tom.

Re: (BobV50)

In addition to the changes mentioned above thesed are the changes for the MY 2007 (production start 15th may). I apologize if these have been discussed before. But hey, you can never now too much about model changes
Like BobV50 mentioned the interior lights (above the rearview mirror) the cluster-setup has changed.

Here is a picture of the changed rearview mirror like described above. Furthermore will the symbols of the compass shine through the mirror instead of in a separate display.

2 new colours
478 Maple Red Pearl
479 Orinoco Blue Pearl

Bob, I think you're right. The Ruby Red and Dawn Blue Pearl aren't available anymore, at least here in Belgium.

In Holland there is a Edition Sport package available that has Zaurak 17” wheels in 'Diamond Cut/Dark Grey finish' and chrome mirror caps.

(see: http://www.volvocars-campagnes.nl/v50/sport.html)
Pascal
