S***!!!

So I wanted to tint my mirror blinkers, so i carefully VHT'd it.

After I took the tape off, I didnt like it so I ran to home depot and bought some hardcore paint stripper. Applied it and this is what it did!

The thing is, the paint sripper ripped of my car paint but not the VHT.

S***!

What should I do? http://********************/smile/emthdown.gif http://********************/smile/emthdown.gif http://********************/smile/emthdown.gif

Paint+ paint stipper = stripped paint? lol

Now you have an excuse to buy CF mirrors, or maybe just paint yours flat black?

Lol I know, but I only applied it to the lights, must have spilled.

I really like the silver mirrors, and black may look out of place but on the other

hand I have a silver/black/blue theme

and where do you buy CF mirrors?

AND what should I do in the mean time, this is sooooo embarassing

Re: S***!!! (Kallvin22)

Best you can do is sand it down and repaint.

Mine are black:

Not going to lie, I dont like that.

Guess I'll order some paint from myswedishparts and repaint unless I can find some CF mirrors

Ah well, it's an option. I love it personally.
Re: S***!!! (cicatrizdare)

I like Cica's mirrors, but I don't think they would go with your blue theme...Do them blue, duh!

Re: S***!!! (Modernman)

Even though you may not have had any paint remover actually applied to the mirror covers the fumes are just as potent. Sorry.

I dont mind the flat black mirrors myself. I prefer Satin black though.
Buy the R-Design's plasti-chrome caps if you want to stick with the silver-color theme.

(But yours is a 2005... so they might not fit)

why did you swab your actual paint with the paint stripper?

i've tinted headlights before, acetone/nail polish remover works, just dont let it sit on your paint

Since this is a S***! thread, I'll add: I scraped a wheel last night (medusa, unfortunately, not one of my winter wheels), THEN moved my passenger seat all the way forward and my pass. airbag service req'd message came on! F!!!!
Not to jack your thread, but is there a way to remove the directional light lense from the mirrors? I want to tint them at some point and would rather work with them off the car to avoid something like this! Anyone know?
Re: (Veefifty T5AWD)

Yeah they actually come right off. Pop the mirror covers off by prying around the top passed the black mirror bezel. Once the covers removed the lights come up and out off the assembly.
Re: (ForceFed Motorsports)

+1. That's how I tinted mine. Completely removed them.
