This is the first time that I have ever seen a new 60/70/80 series Volvo with the center console covered in some type of trim. This is a new picture of the S.A.M. Steffansson Aluminium trim on a V70 T5. They also have briarwood and carbon fiber to choose from. Also, notice the polished metal shifter. I think that it looks pretty neat!

-Drew
[This message has been edited by InDy (edited 02-21-2001).]

Interesting. Look how the trim on the glove box is black plastic. Not fake wood, OR the metal. Man, I like that look a lot.
Now, how do I retrofit a manual trans into my car?
- Darell

Very interesting... for that "personal touch".
Has anybody in the US ever ordered from these guys? It just seems that after I do the currency conversion & tack on the S&H, it really starts to run up the costs. Not to mention the hassle, in the event my order gets screwed-up.
S.A.M. seems to come out with aftermarket stuff for Volvos faster then anyone else... too bad IPD or somebody in the States doesn't get their act together.

Rob,
Coyote Motorsports in Tulsa, Oklahoma imports S.A.M. stuff, but their prices seem really expensive. It might even be cheaper to just get them directly from S.A.M Steffansson.
Coyote Motorsports
-Drew

Hey -
Is it just me, or does it look like the dash cup holder (or in Rob's case, the radar detector holder) is missing? Anybody know if that thing is easy to remove? No way I've ever gonna use the thing, and I could use the space for my glasses case or something.
- Darell

Darell,
As I have recently found out from a Volvo S60 owner, Volvo charges close to a 1-hour labor fee for installing a cupholder in the place of the empty slot. At least, this is what the owner said. The technicians say that it is definitely not an easy job as it looks. They have to take the stereo system out and some of the other console trim pieces.
Did someone say "software download"? Just kidding!
-Drew

Drew -
Dang! I'll bet if I pulled really hard, I could get it out of there in less than an hour Well, I guess that's something else I should add to my list of projects to give up on.
- Darell

Here's another sight that offers interior trim mods. Don't know anything about these guys, but I like the schematics that show all the different pieces.
http://www.wooddash.com/category/VOLVO_Dash_Kits

If they are he ones I checked out for the V70, they are fake wood to match the original trim, and cover up the "writing" around the knobs, unlike the SAM aluminum ones.
