Hi, all.

Just got my v70 back from getting the front windshield replaced. The break started from the top middle, under the weatherstripping. I thought there was just a chip that somehow managed to happen just out of sight, but the repair guy said that there was a lot of rust up there. They were not going to warrant the job for leaks, it was so bad. Said that water was accumulating and when it froze, it expanded and broke the window.
Has anyone else had this happen?

Personally not had a windshield brake from rust but I can see how it could happen with freezing collected water. Did they make you aware of the situation before they installed the windshield? I would have wanted to remedy the rust situation before it got any worse.

They did not make me aware of the situation, but they did do a bit of repair, in the form of grinding the rust off and primering it up. The tech said he thought it was from the sunroof leaking, but that it wasn't obvious where it was leaking from. Funny thing is that it never leaked until the windshield broke. Kind of a which-came-first-the-chicken-or-the-egg scenario.

Isn't there a long corrosion & rust warranty on these cars? Like 15 years?
