I went in for 30k service and complained about the axle ping and the brake squealing. I was able to duplicate both noises for the shop foreman and they fixed both using the new bolt and dampeners. The rear pads were replaced under the axle pinging job and the front pads were replaced under the brake squealing job. So I just got new brake pads for free just when my fronts were ready to go.
So yea, anyone with the axle pinging and brake squealing, wait untill you need to replace your brake pads and then go in for the fix.
BTW for LA area owners, Rusnak is 100x better than Bozzani. The service advisor (Patrick) actually listened to my specific complaints and wrote everything down in detail and the shop foreman came within 5 minutes to ride along to hear the noises. The techs also wear latex gloves when they drive your car so the interior doesn't get all dirty too.
