Well I went ahead and changed my trans, bevel gear and rear diff fluid last weekend. My car has 32K on it and just had the factory 30K service (where they are supposed to check the bevel gear). The transmission was slightly overfilled (3 to 4 oz) which I though was good (I refilled with Redline MT90…took a little over 2 qts). However, when I took the fill plug out of the bevel gear nothing came out; so I put my little finger in a far as I could and still no sign of oil? I pumped out about 0.5 quart and refilled it with Redline 75W90 gear oil and it took almost a full quart. I removed the rear diff fill plug…same thing no oil came out, so I tried to position a small tube to pump out the oil. I keep trying all different lengths of tubing pushed in and every different position but could only get about 3 oz out? I refilled with Redline 75W90 and it took almost a quart. This means that both the bevel gear and rear diff were seriously low on fluid! I would recommend that even if you aren't prepared to change the fluid that you pull the plug and add fluid till it comes out the fill plug. Dirty fluid lubricates better than no fluid! I plan on during the AOC/Haldex when I can get the correct fluid from Volvo.

So 75w90 in the rear diff?

I think the Redline 75W90 will work fine in both the bevel gear (really the front diff) and the rear diff. I did a lot of looking around before deciding what lubricants to use.
