I stumbled across a Volvo spy thread and was wondering if there is any truth to Volvo possibly sharing with Ford of Europe?
Of course I can't reveal it's source but I did find it refreshing. So I wanted to share it with all SS members.
Here is the thread in it's entirity.
"I think Volvo Cars first priority at the moment should be building a quality Volvo supermini, aimed at buyers with a budget who want the traditional volvo quality and safety, and ther virtues in a smaller more economical package."
"It should be based on the Fiesta and share engines/drivetrain with it (that is if Ford does not sell Volvo). Volvo are already late into the game, something similar to the Audi A1 concept would be the ideal choice. I don’t get it. You’re treating someone’s wish for such a vehicle as a rumor that it’s in development? Or did I miss something?

I don't know it could be real. Stranger things have happened. Who would of thought that Volvo would ever have a Yamaha V8 engine?

It was a spy thread.. thought it was worthy. Maybe other's that don't have their hands tied will add some insight.
News & Rumors Read it here first. Forum exclusive news about Volvo and its sister companies before it hits the web site & a place for readers to share Volvo-related rumors seen in print elsewhere.

...but that post is neither NEWS, nor is it a RUMOR
if this was the NEWS,RUMORS & WISHES forum, then it would totally make sense to post that.

Re: Rumor - Volvo's new "supermini" to possibly share Fiesta engines/drive train. (VolvoD)

Yeah VolvoD I thought of that at time of posting but other threads like "Ford Mounts Water Cannon to V70R's Side, Finds Clever "Research" Excuse For Doing So" is questionable as NEWS,RUMORS & WISHES as well and no one complained.
Since we are both just members maybe a moderator could make a more official ruling. I can easily move it to General Volvo Discussions if that be the case. I'm quite sure a moderator has read it at this stage in time.
Then if one were to believe in conspiracy rumor theories defusing the topic or steering one away from the issue will surely cause others to have second thoughts OR it will die a silent death.
Geez I hope my spelling is okay? LOL

I think it might be related to Peter Horburg the new guru back in Volvo's stable of design. Something to do with a new "City Car Concept" the "Kuga" or "XC30". Not sure though VolvoD -- I can only get so much from surfing.

If they use a belt driven CVT, maybe Volvo could market it as a DAF?

...premium small cars are becoming a popular niche and Volvo themselves admit internally that the C30 is too big to be a Volvo City Car.
volvo has had internal city car concepts, kindof like the A class or Audi A2 type vehicle. The 3CC was a move to smaller cars plus there is the patented "ride down" concept to make small cars considerably safer. Volvo did design consultancy on the Ford B platform (Fiesta) but didnt take the design further to "volvo-fy" it. They just helped Ford. However, I wouldnt say 'never' to a volvo city car.......
