Is this repairable? The door will close properly 9 times out of 10. Then when it doesn't the latch is hung up in the closed position. You can pivot it by hand to open it and then the door closes.

But it's the daughters car mostly, and I need it fixed the right way.

There is no spring tension on the latch and that's probably the problem. I can buy a new latch on ebay or from Volvo or Erie, but wondered it there is a fix without buying a new latch assembly. I know I have to take the door panel off and so on. Never have done that before.

Anyone like Chilled or JRL have a rt side latch assembly around?

Thanks,

Have you tried lubricating it? Spritz some penetrating oil into it and see if that helps, and then if it does, follow it up with some stick grease, just pack it in and cycle the mechanism.

Hehe, glad to help. While you're thinking about it, now go around and lube all the others, and the door hinges, and hit the hood hinges and latches as well. It's easy to forget about these things until they quit working, but they all need lube.
