Rossos are almost down to the wear bars at 15,000 miles. I know a lot of people like PS2s, but they are very expensive. The friend to whom I sold my 528 likes the Avons he got from Tire Rack, but he doesn't push the envelope much (I do from time to time ).
Anyone have experience with Avons?
Thanks

Soledoc got them for his T5 before he sold it and I think he liked them. I got the Kumho ASX and have been very happy with them.

I don't believe AVON makes a 97 load rated tire, in 235x45x17. Few manufacturers do.
If you are wiling to compromise on load rating, than there are many more tires to choose from.
I have no direct experience with AVON on cars. In the past I did have good luck with them on motorcycles.

I had the Avon M550s on my Baja Turbo and I was very happy with them.
I am also running an inexpensive set of 19" General tires on our Project V70R, no complaints. I'm not going to track the R with the 19s, so an economical, daily driver type of tire is all I really needed.

Re: Rossos going at 15,000 miles; anyone have experience with Avons? (surfsd)

I ran the Avon Tech M550 A/S 95XL 235/45/R17 on my previous T5 as a previous poster said. I was very pleased with them. Good in dry, wet and even light snow and cold. I had absolutely no issues with them. The Conti Extreme Contacts are not load rated to 95 like the rossos are. I would stick with the 95 load rated tires like the Avons. I wouldn't let the low price scare you away. I think the quality of those tires is fine and I'm going to put them on my R this fall. I must say I didn't run them much over 5K miles but they did hold up well and I was much happier with them compared to my OEM Pirellis P6 that came with my T5.

Has anyone considered the Yokohoma brand. I have run Perrelli and Yok's on my lude since 99 and the Yokohoma parada Spec 2's are a great tire for the money! I get about 12-14 months out of a set 30k miles and they are sticky, so performance isnt sacraficed a whole lot. Tirerack or discount tire has them for about 98 bucks a tire.
If you really want a good tire the perelli P zero Asimentrico's are the stickiest tire i have ever had, but they dont last very long.

I like Conti., Pirelli and Bridgestone, been driving AWD Turbo cars since 1989...
I would not buy any other brand... but hey... it is your life that will be on the line in your car... so buy whatever you like.
Regards,
Coolknight
