Hey guys, just got a 98 C70. Looking to do some upgrades and wanted to pick your collective brains and get some suggestions. First off, I got it from Canada and wanted to bypass the permanent daytime running lites. Secondly, want to get 19's to fill up the wheel wells. Any ideas would definitely be helpful. Thanks.

You better stock up on lots of denture glue...You will need it with those 19" (I assume you meant 19-inch as I cannot imagine a C70 with 19-foot wheels!)

As far as turning off the DRLs (IMO you should not, they are on for your safety; studies have proved the DRLs' virtues), there is a little screw right next to the headlight switch. RIght now, it is most likely pointing to either 12 o'clock or 1 o'clock. Take a small, tiny screwdriver and turn that screw one or two notches counerclockwise; to 11 o'clock. Your DRLs should be turned off and that switch should function "normally", now.

Not sure how you can 'fill up' the wheel wells by just using 19s without rubbing or any other problem. To avoid any rubbing, you might want to go with lower profile tires, 35 (?) instead of 40.
And just pray wherever you live don't have that many potholes.
If you want to do it right, just get some lowering spring to 'fill up' the fender gap. If you want to pimp it out like some rappers, I think 20 inch dubs will get more respect.

Thanks for the reply guys. On Canadian models there is no screw on the light switch, so I cannot disable it that way. Does anyone know if I replace the light swith with a US part if it would work? I called the Volvo dealerships in my area and they were no help. As far as the rims, I'm trying to make the car look sharp, not G-ride. Know what I'm sayin? The reason I want 19's is that the C70 as you all know has large wheel wells. I definitely do NOT want to sacrifice my ride too much but I want the car to look good. I'm looking at 18" Moda R6's with 225 40 series rubber but would love to go 19 if I can. I'm also looking to lower it 1.2 inches with H&R springs. I've replaced the headlight and fog bulbs with 85 watt SuperWhites, and want to do more!

If you get one piece wheels, it usually will give the visual effect as if you have really big wheels.

And if you really want to have lower ride, I would suggest using IPDs. So far they look the lowest compares to other springs..except for the PI springs that Terrence has put on my cousin's 850. Not sure where you get those springs, though. I know the Miata crew also use them in some races.

If you have the $$$, coilover might let you lower even more without going "G-Ride" airbag suspension.
Or the cheapest way is to cut the springs.
Not exactly the best way, but you get the point.

I like the look of the Moda R6, it's clean, classy and big. I've been told that the biggest I can go as far as tires are concerned are the 225 40 18, but I'd like to go 235. Thought about going with the coilovers but I decided against them, too much bread. I think the lowering springs are good enough for me. I'll probably lower the car first to see how it sits on the stock rims. Thinking about the intake and and exhaust tip for a deeper growl on takeoff too. I saw some pretty cheap chips for about 600 bux, for a 40hp gain, any companies I should stay away from?

You can get 8 x 19's on the front and 9 x 19's on the rear no mods required and no rubbing.

You have to get seriously low profiles tyres, which I've been told will destroy the ride, but that's a decision you have to make...

Obvoiusly the larger rears are only cosmetic, but its worth it if you can!!!

Problem is finding a decent looking wheel in a 19 which will actually fit!
