my driver side roof pillar cover, you know, the fuzz covered, gray piece of molded material that covers from the dash to the roof adjacent to the windshield, it's chewed up and ugly. does anybody know whether this part is available for purchase, from where, and whether it's easy to replace? it seems like it should be held in with snaps. i haven't taken it out yet to investigate, and i can't find even the proper name for this piece of trim online. anybody? thanks in advance!

Re: Roof Pillar Cover Replacement? (dancho)

okay, now i know it's called the A-pillar trim -- does anybody know where one can buy replacement trim?? the suggested site above doesn't have it. googling is useless. anybody at a parts department of volvo know if it's orderable? my dealer's closing and its parts department laughed at me when i asked. thanks in advance!

And it's very easy to change, if it's the same as my '01 anyway. There's two clips holding it on and it jams into the dashboard. Just pull out at the top (which will pop out the clip in the center), twist the upper clip to release it, and lift it out. Or you can just cut the upper clip and buy a replacement. You'll want to pull the door frame trim away when you put the new one on.
It should take less than 3 minutes to swap it.
And, if you pull yours off first, there should be a part number molded into the back of it, which will make ordering the exact correct one even easier.
