I was on my partner's boat (Cobalt) this weekend and noticed a volvo logo. I asked him and looked around and noticed that his engine said Volvo Penta. I didn't know they were in to boat engines.
Anyway, it was fun using the volvo power to throw me around at 30-40 mph on a kneeboard, wakeboard and tube!! Man, am I sore today!

Re: Rode in a Volvo Penta boat engine (soledoc)

Volvo Penta, Volvo Aero, Volvo Buses, Volvo Trucks, etc, all part of the Volvo Group. Volvo Car Corporation is the only company not part of the group (owned by Ford Motor Company)
http://www.volvo.com/group/glo...pment/

Volvo Penta is one of the best known stern drive/inboard engine manufacturers.
Volvo also built the "Bat Boat"...

Re: Rode in a Volvo Penta boat engine (soledoc)

My father has been sailing around with a 35 hp Volvo Penta in his boat for 20 years. I used to joke that he drove a Volvo. Now I do. The Penta's are a common boat engine.

Re: (universityvolvoOSD)

I'm not walking too good. My arms also are quite sore. It was a bit hard cutting those thick fungal toenails today.
To clarify, I think the kneeboard was 25-30mph, wakeboard around 30 and the tube was closer to 40mph. Add in the centripetal force on the turns on the tube and that makes for a wicked fall....but that's the fun of it
I didn't realize that Cobalts were so nice.

Re: (VolvoLT)

Maybe the wakeboard was less, but I know the tube was approaching 40 at times. That's why I hurt like a mother as you say when I hit the water.
