Just installed the Roady XT in my R. Not hard to do at all and was happy with how it came out. Here is pic of my mounting location. I am finding that some stations sound a little metalic where others are crystal clear. I love the programming and coverage but am not so impressed with the sound quality. Anyone else have this problem?

Re: (Copeland)

Yes I am missing the Pen holder, I bought the car used and it never came with one. As for the shoes, they are Pirelli Nero M&S's

Where did you mount yours Jim? I have a Sirius Sportster, and I don't really like it anywhere. But then again, I like the in-dash cupholder.

About an inch lower than his, top of Roady flush right at the bottom of the A/C vent.
But it's mounted FLUSH, not on a stuck out bracket like his is

It is mounted flush. The back of the Roady is right up against the dash. The bracket that I made mounts to the inside of the cubby. I mounted it up a little higher so I can still use some of the space below.

Could you post a picture? So you did not use the base at all? How did you plug in the antena, power, etc? What did you use for a power source?

I like the look on the install....except for the exposed wires. Mine are hidden behind the dash hole. Here's a link to a post I made with my xm install.
http://forums.swedespeed.com/z...age=4 (it's on page 4)
My unit is a bit bigger than the roady XT so it sits a bit lower. The sound quality is not quite as good as the radio and certainly not as good as the CD, but it's acceptable. I almost exclusively listen to xm now so I'm used to it.

It's not flush, which I wish it was, but it's actually closer to your hands this way. It works well and is comfortable to reach the controls. Plus....it's got a blue readout and has aluminum trim.

I got the USA Spec and can connect my Ipod and my XM radio. It sounds better than the radio but not as good as the CDs.
On a side note: My ipod sounds incredible. I would say that it sounds better than my CDs. I don't know if this is accurate since I hardly listen to CDs since I buy all my music online and put it right on my ipod. But I love the sound of it.
I would reccomend going with the USA Spec unit or Mrg_Ed's unit. I think It will greatly increase the sound quality.
As for mounting:
I like the location. Mine blocks my vent and I wish it didn't now that I am in Arizona for the summer. However, I don't like the exposed wires. I wonder if there is another mounting option that puts the wires in the back.

-Luke

Re: Roady XT in my R (luke8302)

If you find a mount for the XT that puts the wires in back let me know. Also I took the picture from lower than my head is when I am in the seat so they do not show as much but I would still like it cleaner.
