The roads up here are much worse than usual this year. I'm starting to hear more rattles, bumps, and "wobbles" then ever.

I'm wondering what it's going to cost me in the spring...

Bad here too - What might be helpful is a list of bushings or other suspension parts that we could replace after a few brutal winters to restore the car.

We could then could then get a group buy together to buy these bushings in "packs" that we would then install every year or so. So, where does the list start?

About .19 a gallon, $7/day in tolls and a new suspension! The weather here has been brutal on the infrastructure. Gas lines, water lines, roads, trees, homes, they all took a real beating this year and thanks to the barackracy in this state, it will likely take until next winter to get the issues addressed.

+1 http://********************/smile/emthup.gif But he's supposed to "help" things.

It's also the crappy patch jobs they do each year, when the "blob" the asphalt into a hole, which then gets ripped up the following year by the plows, leading to a bigger blob.

Start with the sway bar endlinks. The stock ones don't last long. I replaced mine at around 30k mi. IPD heavy duty are good.

Re: (llabahn)

You could always buy a beater (you will appreciate your R soooo much more).

I hate my 90hp Nissan, but its got some big ol' tires that eat potholes for lunch.

I know I live in CA but my County is at the top of the list for sh*t bag roads!! The worst in the State for several years.

Partially due to the MA roads, I have NO struts left.
(also have 138k mi)
Bouncing all over the place. Rattles and bangs too loud to hear the stereo.
New struts next week.
Should do the rear too I suppose...$$$ that I don't have.

Dude, I went and bought a POS truck for a few grand, best thing I ever did!! The roads in PA are prob just as bad as anywhere else, especially with all the salt they pour on the roads. There was a period of about three weeks I didn't even take the R out...

I just reinstalled my aftermarket endlinks tonight after having them off for several months. Wow! I should have gotten around to painting them earlier.

Just swapping out the fronts gave my car a much more positive feel and no popping and creaking anymore.

My beater is a 2008 Malibu...everyone gave me a hard time in the fall about hidding the R for the winter. This is why. It's sitting in the garage right now with three layers of Zaino on the skin and has been fully detailed.

The Malibu took a serious beating this year between snow, ice, road salt and the cheap beach sand most of the state decided to use this year (dust everywhere!)....

I kept the '98 V70 T5 for the same reason; up here it's crazy to drive a car you actually care about during most of the winter if you can afford not to. I take the R out for an hour about once a month on dry-road days in the winter. The rest of the time it's under its car cover.

Re: (SHIFT_S60R)

Unfortunately my winter beater is my R. If I didn't or couldn't drive the R during winter or 6 months out of the year I'd probably sell it. I can't justify buying an AWD and having it hybernate all winter....

The roads this year are getting bad here as well....with the weather warming up, frost heaves are the biggest issues we have. I've gone all winter without even seeing a pothole...our roads are in pretty good shape in that regard. It's kind of preparing one for autocross season...you have to weave in and out to miss things.
