This is the RICA Automotive Engineering S60 T5. The car has been tuned to 310 hp and 317 lb.ft of torque. The car looks like it has been painted "Laser Blue", just like the S60R, but without the "Landshark" body kit and "BBS" rims. As you can see, the mouldings on the car have been painted as well. I have contaced RICA for more information about the modifications and for more pictures of the car. Enjoy!
They already seem to have tuning plans for the S60R (PCC) to bring the power up to 330hp/332lb.ft, just 3 horses shy of the new BMW M3.
Source: RICA Automotive Engineering

-Drew
[This message has been edited by InDy (edited 03-13-2001).]

Please let us know, on how to paint the black. Most shop are worried that the paint will chip. Would like my new S60T (red) to look like my C70, no black trim. Thanks
Tom in Daytona.

om-
I've talked to several body shops here locally (SoCal) and I'm not convinced that long-term any paint is going to stick to the textured black trim. Sure I eventually found a few shops that were willing to take my money but the more reputable shops in the area, wouldn't take my money. I have to believe that for a body shop to refuse business they have to honestly believe it's not going to work (long-term).
My suspicion is that when the S60R variant comes out that the trim will be colored matched. At that point it may be worth looking into, perhaps "smoother" non-textured trim will be available that we can buy.
I know several cars have had this done and they look great, but looking long-term I for one need a little more convincing.
Just my $.02 worth…if you get it done, please post pics…I’d love to see.
Hello all,
RICA Automotive Engineering has just contacted me. They sent me some more pictures and information about the car.
The car has been painted "Laser Blue" with body color matched mouldings. The lower cladding has been painted silver and the area below and beside the side mirrors has also been painted silver to match the rest of the car. The car also has 18x7.5-inch graphite BBS Volvo Triton rims with Pirelli P-Zero Asimmetrico tires.
The car does indeed make 310hp and 317lb.ft of torque with just an ECU upgrade and stainless steel sport exhaust system. They will be adding a turbo downpipe and race cat bring the power up to 330hp and 332lb.ft of torque.
Here are more pictures of the car! Enjoy!

-Drew

Hi guys,
Regarding about the color for the side triming. I've check with the sales person from Volvo. What he had told me is that the paint can be done but the color effect will be slightly darker than the body color bcoz of the texture of the triming. By the way nice and detailed pics u've got, Indy. Well done!
[This message has been edited by wisher (edited 03-14-2001).]
[This message has been edited by wisher (edited 03-14-2001).]

Sure it can be done...but you're still going to have the "chipping" issue. Your dealer, like my dealer would simply send the car to a body shop that would paint it.
Still no "magic-solution" for getting the paint to stick to that textured plastic long term.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to get my trim painted, I think it looks great when it's first done, but all the "experts" that I've spoken with say, "it wont last" I hope time proves me wrong.
I'm not a body-shop guy so I can only go on what I've been told...do you have qualified information to the contrary?
Come on...convince me I should go ahead and have this done. I really want to

ch7656,
Did you see robnuttall's car in the 40-series forums? He had the side mouldings on his car painted to match the rest of the car and it seems to have been successful. He said that they sanded the mouldings down to make them smooth, cleaned them up, and then had them painted. It looks really sharp on his car.
Rob's Car:

-Drew
[This message has been edited by InDy (edited 03-15-2001).]

"sanded" Hmmmmm maybe that's the trick!
I've got to be honest I'm a bit torn, I was convinced that I wanted to get it done until I saw your PhotoShopped images of my car (not a negative comment on your work)
Perhaps I'll just leave it alone...I think the next mod will be shocks (to accompany my new springs...waiting to here back from SAM)
Had the daylight running lights turned off today...I like it better.
