I recently gave up my Z-Rated tire to switch to somthing more practical for a daily driver. I headed over to the local Discount Tire to see what they had.
All they carried in that size, under $100 was the Kumho 716. It's an H-Rated tire (good up to 139mph) I went home and did some research on them, and saw some good reviews so I went in the next day to place an order and they came in a few days later, so they installed them for free, after they lectured me about trying to get 50k miles out of the Z-Rated Yokohoma's (Good Tire BTW ) that should last about 30-40k.
So I took off, got on the highway and noticed a very obvious difference in ride quality, and road noise. The Kumho's were silent and very solid feeling going 80mph in light rain. Handiling with the HR's is a little more restricted, taking turns too fast can result in a little sidewall roll (never a problem w/ ZR, same size) Im assuming this is due to a stiffer, less rounded sidewall.
Overall, this is a good tire for a sport sedan. They are quiet, smooth, they look nice and they are cheap.... real cheap. $78 a tire.
I cannot, however comment on longevity because I have only put about 2-4k on them. The tread has no wear as of right now. I think they will be good to about 50-60k.
I give 'em
