I didn't order it. Wish I had. Well worth the $400.
No, I haven't hit anything yet, but this isn't the easiest car to back around.
jvincent

Re: Reverse Warning System Highly recommended! (jvincent)

I'm definitely adding it to my vehicle before the lock date. I'm going to go with after market bright replacement bulbs for the headlights instead of the xenon's(very expensive). I'm going to purchase a reverse warning sound system like trucks have, they can be attached to the reverse lamps and make a beeping noise when the car is in reverse.
Cheers

You can actually buy / install the reverse sensing from volvo dealer. I saw it the other way and was very tempted. It's about $450. You should be able to to install it yourself, but you may need dealer's help to update the software to the audio unit so that the beep would work with your stereo i.e. dim music and increase beep sound.
I'm planning to get the kit, but might want dealer to install it. It'll take about 2.5 hrs -- so with parts and labor, it'd about 700-800.

Call me naive, but this should not be installed at the customer's expense IF the request was made to purchase the car with this option. My dealer told me that maybe my car would come with it but either way they could install it. Call me cheap but I really do not feel like coughing up another 300 clams outside of my loan to have this important option installed.

Yeah, I wish our T6 came with the reverse sensing, but at the time, we wanted an XC90 before Dec 31 2002 (for section 179 tax purposes). The one we bought had everything except the reverse sensing.. I don't mind paying the extra $300 to have it installed later since I'll be saving about $6k from tax deducations
