People in the R forum have done this. The parts for that conversion aren't cheap (maybe $2000) and a software upgrade from the dealership is needed as well. You may want to check with Boston Volvo to see if they can order the parts and what the cost would be.

However they're not a true accessory as they are on the P2 Volvo's
Also, a new drivers door switch pack will need to be changed to one that included a new mirror switch (left hand drive only is listed). It would not be a cheap addition to your car. Also, software (if needed) is not listed for retracting mirrors. I'm just not sure that this can be done to US cars at this time. The tip-off would be if folding mirrors are a factory option right now for a new S40 or V50 (they've been an option on the P2 models for years).
John Sharisky

Yes they are a £250 optional extra however they are often overlooked, I thought they were standard like the S80 when I got mine
Would love to have them retro-fitted, I e-mailled Volvo and they said it wasn't possible, but i think they were just being colourful
