Installed lowering springs a while back and the SR is currently at the dealership getting the SUM reset along with some other work. Its my understanding that the 4C suspension is ride height sensitive therefore with lowering springs the car increases the damping thinking that there is a huge weight. When I explained this to the service mgr he didn't know how to reset the 4C. Can someone out there explain the resetting process or maybe the TSB number to "reset" the SUM so I can explain it to the service technicians?

Right.

Turn the lights down manually, leave them on, and ask for a recalibration of the 4C / SUM.

Hint: this is not a software download, it is simply a recalibration through VIDA.

Yep Suburban and working with Glenn. Spoke to him and I'm basically going to get the SUM upgrade calibration for $185 (TNN70-01-2003-09-22).

Is there a noticeable difference after the SUM recal? Is it worth the extra $$?

The software isn't worth it. Just have the do a SUM CALIBRATION no software is needed to do this and labor should be no more than .3 hrs

Re: Resetting SUM HELP!! (volvofla)

If you have a problem with the computer, jack the rear of the car up about an inch, that "fools" the computer and will "take" properly

You are talking about 2 different things.

There is a calibration. That does not require a download. It literally takes 5 minutes. If they charge you more than 1 hour, that sucks. They shouldn't even charge you 15 minutes, but most dealers only do 1/2 hour increments. The calibration only just re-zeros all the readings, essentially.

Then there is new software that actually runs the SUM. That's the P/N shown in the TNN.

I wouldn't recommend it. And it won't help you be able to calibrate the unit.

Re: (Needsdecaf)

You do NOT want any upgraded SUM
LISTEN to what we're saying, calibration only 3 minutes
