Lately, I have had occassions where my dash light and signals don't work but if I wiggle the key while car is running they come on. Time to replace the ignition switch I guess!
Are there any online tutorials or tips on this replacement, or is it complicated and require a trip to the garage?

Re: Replacing Ignition Switch on 1998 S70 (tina)

If you can change your tire, you can change your ignition switch. Im pretty sure your S70 is the same as my '97 850.... it may have the chip in the key which mine does not have. First disconnect your battery. Then you have to remove the steering column surround cover. two 15T screws and two phillips screws. You will then see the ignition switch wires. pull them away from the switch gently, do not use a screwdriver to pry, the plastic may crakc and break. Once the wires are apart from the switch, use a flat head screw driver to remove the two screws holding the ignition switch to the steering column. Install the new part and everything else...
good luck
