Re: replacing hu-801 with hu-611 (volvo_s80_2.9_t6)

I don't know if it'll work.
The 801 is linked to the dolby decoder, the center channel and a different amp. I say it's a no go, but the best to do is to call your dealer.
If you really want a cassette player, you could always buy a little walkman type player with a phono out plug and use a usa-spec unit http://www.crutchfield.com/S-o...11VOL to "tap" the cassette sound into your current top of the line system.
That way you keep your nice head unit, keep the dolby, keep the center channel, and listen to cassettes in style!
Tim
Re: replacing hu-801 with hu-611 (volvo_s80_2.9_t6)

I believe it is possible. My Dad had his 803 replaced with a 613 in his V70. I don't know how much it cost him but I imagine it would be expensive. I like the USA Spec option better as well. That way you can connect ipods and any other portable headphone device as well. And you can still have your much better sounding system. You could also just record your tapes into MP3 or just put them on CDs. I think you would do better in the long run. My dad got the tape player to listen to medical tapes and now they all come on CD anyways and he doesn't even need the tape player anymore.

801 =
