Replacing Control Arms... Ball Joint Bolts Size and Pitch?

I am working on replacing the control arms on the XC. Driver's side came apart and went together smooth without issues.

Does anybody know the size/thread pitch/ PN/ etc of the bolts that attach the ball joint to the knuckle? Been Google searching but it seems like most ball joints come with bolts (mine unfortunately, did not)

Thank you,

Steve

Please don't hold me to this but I have a Volvo kit and measured the bolt that mounts the knuckle.

Thread 10mm wide with what I believe to be 1.5mmm pitch (coarse, not fine), and thread length is 25mm. Bolt has a 13mm head, marked B U F 0 with 2 indents at 5 and 7 o'clock (ref B U F 0 at top). Comes with red thread lock already on the bolt.

VIDA does note differentiate a separate PN for the bolt(s), all comes in the OEM kit.

Thank you! It is really the 1.5 vs. 1.25 thread pitch that I am trying to narrow down. I keep measuring and cannot definitely confirm one or the other. Wouldn't be an issue, but I am trying to clean the threads that these bolts go into inside the knuckle so was hoping to buy the proper thread chaser. The wrong one would mean I'm getting a new knuckle! :)

You guys are freakin' killing me.

I measured pitch (again) using a Mitutoyo 500 Series Absolute Digimatic Caliper set to zero, measured, set to zero, and re-measured.

Thread pitch is 1.5mm.

For reference to the procedure used:

"Metric fasteners are specified with a thread pitch instead of a thread count. The thread pitch is the distance between threads expressed in millimeters (measured along the length of the fastener). For example a thread pitch of 1.5 means that the distance between one thread and the next is 1.5mm."

And for the record, the kit this bolt came from is Volvo PN 31201485.

Thank you for measuring for sure! Definitely have to add that to my toolbox

I would clean the bolt good and bring it to a hardware store and throw in some nuts til one fits and bam that's your thread

Neither 1.5 nor 1.25 nuts would fit... maybe didn't clean well enough or stripped. Should've just taken a clean one out of the driver's side but wasn't thinking clearly since a Control Arm job was taking 5x as long as it should've for a variety of reasons. Got into my own head.

Went together smoothly last night. In case anyone is having trouble with getting ball joint pressed into control arm... For $10 at Lowe's bought a 2"x4" Plumbing pipe nipple and cap. Fits around the rubber of the balljoint and sledge hammer it in. 2 minutes!
