My dealer has informed me that my driveshaft is kaput. It was starting to squeak on cold startup. Quoted me $1600 to replace it, $1200 for the parts.
Anyone got thoughts on a cheaper route? Anyone make rebuilts for the XC90?

I told my wife I'm going to remove it and just give her a front wheel drive XC90.

Re: Replacement Driveshaft (Bigjon)

I bought a new drive shaft for our XC90 online for about $600 a few months ago as memory serves me. My local shop (non Volvo) charged about $180 labor so all in it cost me about half of what you were quoted if that helps.

I got the part from http://www.myswedishparts.com.

Re: Replacement Driveshaft (carmonkey)

Pretty sure it gets icy in PA in winters. A heavy FWD V8 doesn't sound too attractive to me.

Re: Replacement Driveshaft (rollie)

Yah! I live in the middle of one of the two epicenters of winter icing in PA.
This is da Wife's car so I wouldn't want to take away awd. It's a T6 BTW.

Price quote is up to $884 on My Swedish parts.
I think I'm going to sell the car. Any offers? It's in great shape.
