I am trying to replace the bulbs in the headlamp assembly and fog lights to match the color of the Active Gas HID. I just replaced the HIDs last week with the lights posted on another thread from Amazon. I tried LEDs but the just flicker all the time. I guess I would need the High Beam as well as the center (non-amber) bulb.

The HIDs are a low/high beam combo. The little white bulb is a 194 bulb. A 1w bulb is sufficient. I think the flicker is from too much power. Google search LED 194 bulb, it pulls up every color. The side markers are amber 194's. Some other bulbs are too, but not on the front. $4-$12 depending on number of LEDs , placement, and build quality. Blue fogs are here (http://www.autoaccessoriesgarage.com/Lighting/PlasmaGlow-Xenon-Bulbs?set-vehicle=1). About $30. The xenon blue are 55w, the plasma xenon blue are 85w. The DRLs are on the same site, for some reason it is labeled low beam. It is, however, still an H11 bulb (same as the DRL), and is 55w. No 85w option. The only difference between the fog and the DRL is a 90 degree bend before the actual bulb. This bend is needed to make the bulb fit in the headlight housing behind the rubber cover.

The D1S bulbs are only sold as low beam. The H9 is the high beam (top center on the photo)

Check your lights. It should be both and the center should be DRL. I wired the center into my fogs. In position 1, labeled 0, it should switch from the center lights in bright to HIDs in dark. Position 2, it should only be parking lights. Position 3 is HIDs on constantly, which is the only position the brights will stay on. Turn it to position 3, check your low beams, then turn your high beams on and check. The HIDS should be both low and high.

The manual and Slyvania say its high beam. And yes the HID are hi/low.

either way I need the high/drl as they must be out as well.

I think they have made two versions of the HID assemblies for the XC90. Early ones use H9 for the high beam, later ones use the single HID bulb and a shutter in the projector.

If you have H9 high beams, you aren't going to get anything quality that matches the HID color. The bulb will have to be tinted which might get it close while cutting down significantly on the output.

Mine is also a 2007, made in late 2006, so the difference in headlight intrigues me. Would you be able to take pictures? I also will be changing everything to blue, but I will not be facing the halogen high beam problem. I also have ordered a 32" curved light bar to substitute as brights until I order a 24" to put behind the center inlet, at which time I will lower the angle and wire it into the fogs. I like the distance of the HID's on low, but the high beams don't point high enough for me. Sorry for the phone pictures, I don't even own a good camera.

Before DRL's always on.

Ok, can you take a picture of the back of your headlight assembly? Your headlight looks exactly the same as mine, same functions as well. If the fog light goes off when you turn your high beams on, you have the same shutter headlight as me and they might just be aimed incorrectly.
These two lights are the same light, so I'm wondering where you placed the high beams and DRL. The little light in the middle seems really bright, is it an LED?

I'm looking at this page in the manual (http://new.volvocars.com/ownersdocs/2007/2007_XC90/07xc90_09.htm#pg201). You might have two identical blown fuses. These I believe are for the shutters in the HID's.

22. Driver's side high beam 10
23. Passenger's side high beam 10

Fuse box in the passenger compartment, behind the plastic cover, driver's side
This fuse box is located behind the plastic cover below the steering wheel.

One thing I have noticed since replacing the headlamps is that they are constantly on, they used only turn on when it was dark enough and the DRL were on any other time. Something weird is going on.

As for the lights.

Yes it is the shutter style on the projectors.

Here is the photo of the back of the passenger headlamp assembly. The lower bulb cover is connected to the wire clip to the right of that under the cover.
