When I was going about popping the dash up, the torx screw, holding the dash inside the air vent to the left of the steering wheel, was loose. After I had installed the cluster, with the new bulb(s), I was unable to properly tighten the screw-thank you Volvo dealership in SoCal! Is it ok to leave that screw out, as I don't want it to fall into the air system, or should I head to the Volvo dealer tomorrow here and see if they have a larger thread torx screw? Thanks, and happy Mother's Day

Re: replaced the burned out bulb in the instrument cluster this morning.... (1sciroccofahrer)

We're almost twins! I did the exact same job yesterday, although half way through it I realized that the parts manager gave me the wrong bulbs! Anyways, in my case all of the screws were the same length. Perhaps that little metal clip that the screw goes into came off?

Re: replaced the burned out bulb in the instrument cluster this morning.... (ksnaden)

The observation about the little metal clip in which the screw goes falling off is quite intriguing indeed. Tomorrow evening I will have a look, and if it is the case then I will have to go purchase another one. Is this something that can be purchased at a hardware store, or do I need to make a trip to the dealer? Thanks ever so much for the tip, and cheers
p.s. thankfully, all the torx screws(in the 850 dash) were the same length as well

If your ever missing screws you can just use regular ole screws from a local hardware store. Just take one of the torx screws and find something similar.

I am trying to replace the same bulbs but have been unable to get the dash cover off to get to the instrument cluster. I have the Haynes manual and believe I have removed all the screws they mention. Are there any particularly hidden screws that you can think of?
Thanks.
