Hey, just checking in, haven't posted for a while. I had enough with repairing my '98 V70R with 190K on the dial, so I sold it and bought a plain jane 2004 V70. Silver vs silver is familiar, I just have to get used to the round shapes. Boxy cars remind me of mother Russia and the '98 V70R will only be missed on that account. I might just have to get me a late 244, though my mechanic will rightfully disown me.

So, I drove the '04 V70 for a bit today, and the uncomplicated, unsophisticated wagon is a pleaser, sort-of detoxification after the hot-rodded V70R.

I must be getting old, but I will not miss the turbo, stiff suspension and AWD. Turbo makes noise, eats gas and I can move fast enough with NA engine. My kidneys thank me for the regular V70 suspension. And all AWD did was hurting my wallet in various ways. Drive shaft, viscous coupling, you name it, I had a problem with it.
