Cliffs: Previous owner didn't wash off lovebug splatters, resulting in splatter-shaped etched holes in the paint. Used Dr. Colorchip to repair. After three passes with Dr. Colorchip, the etched holes are all but gone.
Final verdict: Not quite as good as a top-quality respray. But if you can't or won't spring for a good respray, it's way better than driving around with chipped paint or uh-oh-you-got-Maaco.
Full thread with purty pikturz is here:
http://forums.bimmerforums.com...01988
(please pardon the link to the BMW forums - my obsession is 80% with my 330i and 20% with the wife's S60 - so most of my forum activity is on bimmerforums)
Edit: Sorry for not explaining better. Dr. Colorchip is a paint touchup kit that is an alternative to paint pens, dealership paint bottles, Langka, etc.
http://drcolorchip.com/

Re: Repaired my paint with Dr. Colorchip (Tiny)

Sadly, not a myth. they are real, and real nasty, and swarm like black clouds twice a year, for about two weeks.
The myth/folklore is that the lovebugs are man-made, that they are the result of a genetic experiment gone wrong.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love_bug
i can attest to love bugs. they are awful and seem to come around in the hottest part of the summer.. also seems to be when everyone is taking a vacation.. which means bundles of driving on the interstate.
