Okay, it's Saturday around 2PM and I am working on my instrument cluster of the Project 245 car. I picked up another cluster for our car, so that I can cannibalize the temp guage that is operating, and a couple other things. It also has the shinier instrument faces that match the tachometer we bought. I want to swap speedo faces, and retain my odometer, but that means removing the needle and it doesn't seem to want to give at all. I don't want to pull too hard and damage them. Has anyone done this, and if so, is there a trick to it. The Bentley manual doesn't have anything on it.

I've removed one before, and it's on there really tight. First take note of where the needle points so that you can put it back on in the correct position. Grab the center of the needle (the black circle) and turn counter-clockwise while pulling straight up. To reinstall, just push it onto the small metal pin.

Thanks Michael, I had it back in the car, but still with some non working components, so I'll take a stab at it next weekend and see if I can't swap that plate out.

Now the trick is getting those plate screws out without scratching their matte black finish.

Re: (towerymt)

Well, this raises a question on my 240 speedometer. I got the connector installed and now the needle and the odometer/tripometer are no longer working. The needle stays at 200kph. What's with that?
Do I have to reset something??
