I called a Volvo dealer today about installing a remote starter for my S40 and the tech told me that they dont install them in s40s because of problems. does anyone know why this is, and what problems?
Because of its complexity, adding an aftermarket remote starter is very invasive to the vehicle's electricals. Personally, everyone I've known to have an aftermarket remote starter has had problems some time later with the system. It's rare to find a technician who actually does a very good job splicing into the wiring and leaving a robust connection. For this reason I tend to steer people away from aftermarket remote starters. I imagine the dealer shares my thoughts, experience, and sentiments.
