I know there is a "How-to" written up on replacing the material on the door finishers. But rather than removing the door finisher to do that, I did it with the finisher mounted on the doors. I wrote up a quick "How-to" that hopefully someone will find useful. This is for my 2010 S40, but I am sure it would work for others as well.

I have written up a pdf on the steps that I did. Click here for the PDF file.

Does the leather feel like it has (or had) a foam backing on it? I would bet that it does. Its probably sagging because the foam has just deteriorated away. The foam backed material that I have is about 3/16in thick. Just plain foam is called "Sew Foam" and you can get it in all different thicknesses.

One question is whether or not you can clean the old gunk off the back of the leather. You might could do it with paint thinner, then put on new foam.

Good luck.

Will post the how-to later when I find someplace to host it so it will be available to all members.
PDF files can be posted to this site as attachments. It's the best way, since attached files are stored on swedespeed itself. If the pdf is huge, just attach the images directly!

Can you point to what I need to do to attach a file to my post? I am using the "Advanced" panel, but I dont see a way to attach a file. The PDF is 2.4Mb. What is the limit?

Strange. I checked your user status and in theory your account can post images (attachments). I'm not aware of any Chrome issues, though I'm currently using Firefox. I'll ask the admins.

Here is my PDF on How-to refinish the door panels. It is not that hard to do, just takes some time and like anything the more you do it, the better you are at it. This is the first time I did this and there probably is a more "professional" way to do it.

Maybe it will help somebody out.

This is brilliant, thanks for the writeup. My seats are from my last (leather) S40, but the door cards are some mighty worn fabric. Have been considering replacing them for a while, and it seems doable with your method.
