Reduced Engine Performance - not the usual

Hi All,

Yesterday I got into my R after it sat for 3 days to receive an error upon starting the car stating that the car had "Reduced Engine Performance".
I drove about a mile not feeling any difference in performance and stopped to fill the car with gas. When I restarted it the message was gone. This happened again this morning when I first started the car and again it went away when I stopped and restarted it. Once again, no apparent loss of power. I currently have 53,000 miles on the car and for the most part it's been trouble free.

The only thing I did the other day was check the air filter to see if it was filthy as we've had a ton of pollen here lately. I banged if off in my hand and put it back in. It was really clean to start with. The car it totally stock.

I searched the forum, but only found examples of limp home mode, nothing that involved the error, but no power loss. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Ken

Have you had any work done on it lately. Could be one of the hoses disconnected (like in my case lately). Checking the codes might steer you in the right direction.

My guess.... vacuum leak. Make sure your clamps are tight and all the hoses connected and not torn.

Kind of strange you didn't feel any performance difference. "Reduced engine performance" IS the limp home mode(for the engine) which usually results in reduced engine output(way less ponies).
