It looks like the red line on my 04 GT is around 6700; at least that's where the red lines start. However, if I reach about 6300 there is a very distinct feeling that I have reached the red line. I have read somewhere in this forum that shifting around 5500 is better anyway, but I am just curious as to where the red line is.

Re: Red line @ what rpm? (acg69)

The tachometer is lagging. In other words, the engine is reving faster than the tach can register. I think.

That flat spot you feel at around 6000rpm's is the ECU cutting back after you have reached PEAK power delivery. Shifting around 5500 is perfect with my 04 GT S60R

Mash, I am not sure if what I feel @ 6300 is a flat spot. It feels like a limiter. The car is still new (less that 2000 kilometers, even though it is an 04) and I am wondering if this is normal. I see people talking about 6800 rpm and I feel that I cannot get up there (not that I have pushed it).
