Got a letter from Volvo saying that i never got my throttle Position Sensor fixed on my 2002 C70. I picked up the car Mid July, and the guy who had it before me never got the sensor fixed. Went in and Volvo flashed the software for free in my car and when i went to drive it I noticed a HUEGE difference. There used to be a "lag" studder with the throttle and I always just thought I was a bad clutch driver or something. Anyone else have this done and notice a difference?

yeah i just had mine done a week ago, it got a lot better, it idles a lot smoother now and starts right up my car used to crank for like 5 secnods before it started and will idle all over the place really high and really low. thats funny about your car mine is a 2002 c70 and i bought it in june

I had the same experience as the 2nd poster. Volvo dealer told me it was the PCV system being clogged and that caused the terrible idle and starts - quoted like $800 to replace. Electronic throttle control flash completely cleaned up the issue.

In this scenario I think they are the same. My idle and poor starts were corrected by having a new calibration of the electronic throttle module flashed.

Just know that the software flash does not cure the real problem with the ETS, which is a degraded feedback potentiometer. The flash only prolongs the emergence of symptoms of the actual hardware failure, perhaps out of extended warranty range.

OK, so I noticed a big difference when i had the flash done, then a week or two later the car felt like it did before i got it re-flashed. So what is the real deal with the ETS? How can you fix it?

Either wait till it fails (and you are potentially stranded), then tow your car in to Volvo - if you are within 10 years or 100K? mi they will put on a new ETS that still sucks. so i had the car flashed a few months ago it was running well for a while and yesterday when i started the car it was idleing all over the place for a good 25 secs and then got to normal idle.
